Darren Hau

Associate Product Manager

Darren Hau is an Associate Product Manager at Schmidt Futures, with a focus on applying data science and machine learning to solve sustainability challenges in the food and energy industries.

Prior to Schmidt Futures, Darren worked on Tesla’s Global Charging Infrastructure team, where he analyzed customer usage of the Supercharger network to inform V3 Supercharger design and optimized battery storage at charging stations, cumulatively reducing global Supercharger expenses by tens of million of dollars.  He also co-founded Dragonfly Systems, a solar power electronics company.  After an acquisition by SunPower, he continued to lead hardware design, manufacturing, and over 300 kW in pilot site deployments.  Darren is the inventor of multiple U.S. patents in solar electronics, and has been recognized by a Forbes 30 Under 30 Award.

Darren serves as a technical advisor for BMNT’s Hacking for Defense program, which connects high-caliber student teams with DoD-sponsored challenges, facilitating deeper civilian understanding of the military and increasing the rate of innovation for national security problems.  He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
