Rebecca Warren (she/her) is Director, Program Design for Rise. Rebecca has worked in education for nearly all of her career, starting out as a teacher in London, UK through Teach First and more recently working for UWC (United World Colleges) as Head of Educational Development. She is passionate about young people having access to learning experiences that transform and empower. Such experiences enable young people to both ground themselves and to serve beyond themselves with compassionate integrity (a term she’s adopted from the Center of Systems Awareness).
Rebecca is interested in the current shifts across the education landscape, accelerated by AI, COVID-19, digital credentialing and other moves away from limiting standardized processes. These can offer young people more learner-centred and humanistic pathways to demonstrate their brilliance and broaden notions of success. While optimistic about the future, Rebecca is deeply concerned about the issues of equity that exist and how to leverage these opportunities for a better future for all.
Rebecca’s first degree was in Social Anthropology, followed by a Professional Masters in Leadership for Sustainable Development. She has worked and lived in different countries, including the Netherlands, the Philippines, Peru and Indonesia.
